Summer Fitness Classes Begin May 19 at IPFW
(Fort Wayne, May 2, 2008) -- Now that spring is fully sprung, it's time to get in shape for the summer. Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is offering a series of fitness classes which can make your transition to summer activities a smooth one. Two sessions of six-week classes begin May 19 and continue through the middle of Aug.. The classes have separate fees, however, if you sign up for more than one class you will receive a ten percent discount on the second class. All the classes are open to the public. Morning Sunrise Stretch, Trim, and Tone
Rise and shine with us for better flexibility, muscle strength, and sculpted upper and lower body. The stretching and strength movements are designed to improve your whole body--especially your chest, abdominal, back, arms, and leg muscles. This class will help you attain a strong, flexible, injury-free, youthful body. Wear comfortable fitness clothes and fitness shoes. Minimum fitness level is recommended.
Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 to 7 a.m., $49 per session.

Morning Movement for Life-low impact class
This class will emphasize balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility. All the movements will be done using a variety of equipment that will help increase total body strength and range of motion so you can keep doing all the your favorite activities. Wear comfortable fitness clothes and fitness shoes. This class is great for all ages and all fitness levels.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 9:45 a.m., $37 per session.

Session II: July 8-Aug. 14

Mid-Day Yoga Stress Break
Take a mid-day break and enjoy head-to-toe stress-relieving, strength-building exercises. There will be a combination of stretches, breathing exercises, BLT (butt, legs, and tummy) strength movements, balance training, and guided imagery thoughts, offering mental and physical tension release for better wellness. Wear comfortable fitness clothes and fitness shoes. Minimal fitness level is required.
Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:15 to 1 p.m., $37 per session.

Dyno-Mix Fitness
Enjoy a dynamic mix of cardiovascular and strength conditioning. This 60-minute class offers a variety of formats, styles, and intensity levels for cross training and ultimate fun. Classes will include step, kick boxing, traditional aerobics, muscle toning, and balance training. Wear comfortable fitness clothes and shoes. Minimal fitness is recommended.

Strengthen and Stretch
This class emphasizes two important components of fitness: flexibility and strength. It will help you increase overall body strength, muscle tone, flexibility, and range of motion. Upper- and lower-body, muscle-specific resistance exercises will be done using a variety of equipment. At least 20 minutes will focus on flexibility. This is a great class for every age. Wear comfortable fitness clothes and shoes. Minimal fitness level is recommended.

Belly Dancing
Low-impact movements drawn form a variety of folklore dance forms. Class will help relieve stress through deep stretching and dance movements. Wear comfortable clothing, no special clothing required. Class will meet in Classroom-Medical Building, Room 16.
Wednesdays, 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., $65
Special session: June 4-July 30 (no class July 2)
