"Suicide Prevention: Are You Gambling with Your Life?"

(Fort Wayne, March 31, 2008) -- The Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute will offer a one-day conference, "Suicide Prevention: Are You Gambling with Your Life?," Thursday, April 3, at the Indiana Government Center South, 402 W. Washington, Indianapolis, Ind.

The cost for the conference is $40, which includes Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Those interested can register at https://learn.ipfw.edu/CourseStatus.awp?~~08SHLT307.

The conference workshops will focus on prevention and intervention issues such as alcohol use, gambling issues, firearm accessibility, antidepressants, and survivors of suicide. A panel of survivors of suicide also will share personal experiences. Paul Quinnett, president/CEO of the QPR Institute in Spokane Washington, will serve as keynote speaker.

The conference is organized by the IPFW Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute, which is part of the College of Health and Human Services, with support from the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA).
