Self Defense Instructors Get RAD at IPFW

(Fort Wayne, March 11, 2008) -- Self defense instructors are used to training others in how to defend themselves, but this week they're the ones being instructed by RAD (Rape, Awareness, Defense) trainers at Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).

Classes began Monday, March 10, for basic physical defense certification and will conclude Wednesday, March 12, with testing. Advanced instruction will be offered Thursday, March 13, with testing and certification on Friday, March 14.

Lecture sessions will be held Tuesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Walb Union, Rooms 114-116. Simulations, demonstrations, and testing will be conducted Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Walb Union, Rooms 222 to 226.

The classes are being hosted by IPFW's Police Department and are conducted by certified RAD Instructor Trainer Jeff Davis.
