IPFW Announces Details of Pink Out
(Fort Wayne, Jan. 11, 2008) -- Statistics from the American Cancer Society say one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is also the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer; and, after lung cancer, it is the leading cause of cancer death among women.
Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is joining in the effort to raise awareness of and research into breast cancer with its inaugural Pink Out event at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, Saturday, Feb. 2. Details of the event will be announced at a news conference Thursday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. in the lobby of The John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center on the north side of the IPFW campus.
Tommy Bell, athletic director at IPFW will discuss activities for the day and introduce representatives of Francine's Friends and the American Cancer Society, beneficiaries of this year's event. Sponsors of the event will also be announced.
