Ice Cream Mogul to Speak at IPFW

(Fort Wayne, Feb. 25, 2008) -- Values, success and ice cream. Ben & Jerry's is a company that is as known for its unusual rich flavors as for its commitment to the community and the environment. Jerry Greenfield will present "An Evening of Entrepreneurial Spirit, Social Responsibility, and Radical Business Philosophy" at the next Omnibus Lecture at IPFW on Wednesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Jerry Greenfield and Ben Cohen are behind one of the most talked-about, and least conventional, success stories in American business. In Greenfield's best-seller, Ben & Jerry's Double-Dip: Lead with Your Values and Make Money, Too (co-authored with Cohen), he created both a nuts-and-bolts guidebook to values-led business and an inspiring wake-up call about the influence of the socially conscious or mission-driven corporation.

The Ben & Jerry's ice cream empire is a model for American business success. Greenfield and Cohen have been recognized for fostering their company's commitment to social responsibility by the Council on Economic Priorities and by the U.S. Small Business Administration, which named them U.S. Small Business Persons of the Year in 1988.

The IPFW Omnibus Lecture Series brings six distinguished speakers to the university and the northeast Indiana community each year. The series, in its 13th year, is committed to presenting diverse perspectives through educated, respected, and entertaining speakers. There is no admission fee. Omnibus is made possible with the support of the English, Bonter, Mitchell Foundation and publicized with support from Northeast Indiana Public Radio and WANE-TV NewsChannel 15. The Greenfield lecture is co-sponsored by the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly and The Entrepreneur's Source.

The 2007-08 Omnibus Lecture Series is held in The John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center in the acoustically superb, 1,600-seat Auer Performance Hall. The music center is located on the north end of campus in the arts plaza next to Williams Theatre and the Visual Arts Building.

The show is designed to provide information and inspiration for business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. The interview will air on Saturday, March 1, at 8 a.m. on WGL 1250 AM and The River 102.9 FM.
