Abracadabra -- Its Chemistry!
(Fort Wayne, Feb. 22, 2008) -- Science Central's Lunch with an IPFW Scientist will explore the scientific side of magic this month. Art Friedel, Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) professor emeritus of chemistry, will host "It's Not Magic, It's Chemistry" Saturday, March 8, at Science Central, 1950 N. Clinton, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program is open to the public at a cost of $15 per person; $8 for Science Central members. Lunch is included.
Professor Friedel will lead participants through experiments that appear to be magical, but are really science. They will examine what is happening from a chemists point of view.
The Science Central Lunch with an IPFW Scientist Series is designed for families with young people ages 8 and up, and plants in both the young and most seasoned participant a budding interest in science. After each presentation, which includes a hands-on activity, participants enjoy lunch with the presenter.
Advance reservations are required, and families with young people ages 8 and up are welcome. For more information on the series, call Lou Papai, education director at Science Central, at 260-424-2400 ext. 442.
