IPFW Presents "A Musical Tribute to Dreamgirls"

(Fort Wayne, Feb. 15, 2008) -- Just a day before the Academy Awards air, the Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs will host its own Oscar-worthy performance. "A Musical Tribute to Dreamgirls" will take place Saturday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. in the Walb Student Union Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public and promises everything from music and dancing to vendors and awards.

Local talent will perform musical selections from the score of the popular stage and screenplay Dream Girls including "Steppin' to the Bad Side" and "And Im Telling You." Kontrell Tyler, local solo artist and host of Kontrell's Corner, will direct the show. Vendors will also be on site.

The IPFW Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs will award the following people the Petti Anthony Award of Excellence: Rev. Michael Latham for civic engagement, Diane Rogers for arts, Alanna Oatts for education, and Thomas Morgan for entrepreneurship.
