IPFW Student Organization Hosts Addictions Conference

(Fort Wayne, April 9, 2008) -- Addiction in our community can be seen everywhere-in our schools, at our work, or even in our own family. The Indiana—Purdue Counseling Honor Society (IPCHS) will hold an Addictions Conference to address these problems Saturday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne's (IPFW) Walb Student Union Ballroom. It is free and open to the public. Participants can receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Certification Renewal Units (CRUs) for $15.

The conference will provide participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to successfully work with those suffering from addictions. The keynote speaker, Wyatt Mullinax, will discuss the relationship of addiction and the process of recovery. Attendees will also participate group breakout sessions led by local experts. The sessions are treating addiction based on the AA, treating eating disorders, medications for treating addiction, and treating adolescent sexual addiction.

A light complimentary breakfast along with refreshments will be served between 8:30 and 9 am. For directions, visit www.ipfw.edu/campus/maps.

For more information on the Addictions Conference, contact Regan Banks, Indiana-Purdue Counseling Honor Society, at 260-414-5747 or bankrj01@ipfw.edu.
