Halloween Spirits Prevail as Mastodons on Parade Get Tricked-Out at IPFW
(Fort Wayne, October 31, 2007) -- Who says dressing up for Halloween is just for people? At Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) a small herd of the Mastodons on Parade statues who have taken up residence on the campus got themselves all tricked out for the holiday. Well, they did it with a little help from their human friends.
Irene Walters, executive director of university relations and communications, thought it might be fun to let faculty and staff decorate and/or dress up the lively statues. "We've had so much fun having these colorful creatures on our campus for the past couple of years that we decided they should enjoy some of our fun, too! The mastodons are in or outside ten of our buildings, and we invited faculty and staff who had one near their offices to 'trick-out their don and get a treat.' We have six of the dons decorated and hope to make this an annual event, with more dons getting decorated every year," said Walters. What was the treat the humans received for decorating a don? A cauldron of candy, of course!
Downloadable photographs of the decorated dons are available at: www.ipfw.edu/news/resources/downloads. For more information, contact Susan Alderman, media director, at 260-481-6165 or aldermas@ipfw.edu.
