Registration Open for IPFW Mastodon Stomp
(Fort Wayne, March 23, 2007) -- Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in the 12th annual IPFW Mastodon Stomp, Saturday, April 28, on the university's campus. The events include a 5K run/walk; a one-mile Kids' Stomp for children 7-12 years of age, and a 100 meter dash for children age 6 and under.
The day begins at 7:30 a.m. when entrants pick up their packets at the Gates Sports Center. The 5K run/walk starts at 9 a.m., the 100 meter Kids' Dash takes off at 9:45 a.m., the one-mile Kids' Stomp begins at 9:50 a.m., and the event concludes with an awards ceremony at 10:15 a.m. The course begins and ends in front of the Gates Center.
The entry fee is $12 for adults up through April 21; after that date it is $15. Kids/student fees are $5 with no late fees. There will be no refunds for this event, which is a fundraiser for the IPFW Cross Country and Track and Field teams. The event is dedicated to Tony Laux, a 1996 IPFW Cross Country runner.
Awards will be presented to the top boys and girls in age groups 10-12 and 7-9 for the Kids' Stomp; all 100 meter Kids' Dash runners and one-milers will receive special gifts; and there will be a special gift from the Limberlost Girl Scouts Council Service Unit #8. 5K runner awards will be presented to the top three men and women in 15 different age groups; special awards will go to the first male and female college students, college employees, and IPFW alumni in each event. Each entrant will receive a special t-shirt.
