Math Honors Society Adds Ten IPFW Members to Its Sum
(Fort Wayne, April 24, 2007) -- The sum of the prestigious Pi Mu Epsilon Honorary National Mathematics Society has grown by ten with the addition of Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) students, faculty, and an alumnus. The following members were inducted based on their outstanding records as mathematics majors:
- Miklos Cseri - Undergraduate Student - Churubusco, Ind. (formerly of Highland, Ind.)
- Elizabeth Curtis - Undergraduate Student - St. Marys, Ohio
- Hap Fiandt - Undergraduate Student - Fort Wayne, Ind.
- Kurt Kaylor - Undergraduate Student - Churubusco, Ind.
- Colin Lundeen - Undergraduate Student - Victoria, British Columbia
- David Shaheen - Undergraduate Student - Fort Wayne, Ind.
- Jeffrey Loveless - Graduate Student - Fort Wayne, Ind.
- David Murray - Graduate Student - Fort Wayne, Ind.
- Matthew Walsh - Assistant professor of mathematical sciences - Fort Wayne, Ind.
- Steven Johnson - Alumnus and second vice president of Lincoln Financial Corporation - Fort Wayne, Ind.
The newly inducted members were honored at an awards ceremony April 15. Pi Mu Epsilon IPFW Chapter President Sio Kong and Vice President Susie Hatfield, along with IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell and mathematics faculty members, welcomed the new members.
Founded in 1914, Pi Mu Epsilon has more than 300 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States with a purpose of promoting scholarly activity in mathematics among students in academic institutions.
