IPFW Artist Featured in 100 New York Painters
(Fort Wayne, Dec. 7, 2006) -- Audrey Ushenko, artist and professor of fine arts at Indiana University Purdue—University Fort Wayne (IPFW), has been included with 100 of the most accomplished artists in American painting today in the newly published book, 100 New York Painters, by Cynthia Maris Dantzic.
Ushenko teaches painting in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at IPFW along with being a full-time artist. She is equally at home in the roles of painter, art historian, and art educator. Winner of several awards at the National Academy of Design, Ushenko has had dozens of solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and her work is in many public collections including the National Academy of Design, the Everson Museum of Art, and the Polish Museum of America in Chicago. She is represented by The Denise Bibro Gallery in New York City.Ushenko has been called a big-hearted romantic satirist who gives us a new form of salon painting, both magnificent and discreet. Her projects consist of narrative paintings, typically staged in contemporary settings, often including herself, friends, and colleagues. She uses myth to make a narrative drama about life experiences.
100 New York Painters is published by Schiffer Publishing.
