Mastodons on Parade Gala/Auction Update

(Fort Wayne, Oct. 5, 2005) -- Preparations are steaming full speed ahead for the Mastodons on Parade Gala/Auction Friday, Oct. 21, at the Grand Wayne Center. Nearly 1,000 reservations have been received for the event, which will feature the live auction of 16 full size and dozens of miniature mastodons. An additional 34 full-size mastodons will be available in a silent auction. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the United Way of Allen County.

Gala-goers will enjoy a multimedia presentation featuring the lives and times of the mastodons; multiple food tables where partiers can sample the Hilton Hotel’s finest offerings; and some other surprises. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., with Linda Jackson of NBC-33 serving as the mistress of ceremonies. The auction, which is scheduled to begin around 8 p.m., will feature auctioneer Brandon Steffen of the Steffen Group. An after-party geared towards a younger audience begins at the conclusion of the gala at the Indiana Hotel, across the street from the Grand Wayne Center. Music, food, and other activities are planned. No advance reservations are required; admission is $10 per person, and is limited to those aged 21 and up.

Many of our Scott’s employee families have enjoyed seeing the Mastodons on Parade all through the summer on the streets of Fort Wayne, and we just wanted to be a part of the celebration.” Besides its sponsorship of the gala, Scott’s has been a long-term supporter of IPFW athletics and is currently partnered with IPFW in selling official Mastodons on Parade merchandise.
