Fort Wayne Teen Wins Mastodon Hunt Contest
(Fort Wayne, May 27, 2005) -- Seventeen-year-old Andrew Spooner of Fort Wayne didn’t believe it when the voice on the phone told him he had won a trip to Disney World. It wasn’t until News Channel 15’s Sandy Thomson, who was the emcee at the grand prize drawing, got on the phone, that he began to believe it. “I ran outside where my mom was and told her ‘I just won the trip to Disney World!’”
Andrew says he and his family didn’t go to Headwaters Park for the May 25th drawing because, “I’ve never won anything, and didn’t think I’d win this time!”
So who is Andrew taking on the trip? He says it will be his mom and dad, and if she can get away, one of his sisters. Karen Spooner, Andrew’s mom, says their other two children and their spouses and children will try to make arrangements to go to Disney World at the same time so it can really be a vacation for the whole family.
Andrew’s entry was one of more than 1,200 correct ones in the IPFW-Fort Wayne Newspapers sponsored Mastodon Hunt. The total number of entries was 2,316. The grand prize, provided by Conference and Travel and Delta Vacations, includes round trip tickets from Fort Wayne International Airport to Orlando, Florida, hotel lodging for three nights, and three days of tickets to Disney’s theme parks in the Orlando area.
