Top Ten Mastodons Announced

(Fort Wayne, May 10, 2005) -- The votes have been tabulated and the top ten favorite “Mastodons on Parade” as chosen by voters at the “Meet the Herd” community party at Headwaters Park West on Sunday, May 1, can now be revealed.

1,674 ballots were received and the results are as follows:

  1. Don at Work, created by Kathy Minnich and Michael Bowerman of Shapes Advertising, and sponsored by the Hylant Group.
  2. Chopper Don, created by Bob Kiel and Ed Rost, and sponsored by Jim Bailey’s Harley Davidson/Buell.
  3. Dona in the Box, who was created by Larry Davis and sponsored by The Zacher Company and Dupont OBGYN.
  4. AeroDONamic, created by LeaAnn Gebhard and Ron Mitchell and sponsored by the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority.
  5. Do it Yourself Don, created by the Do it Best Graphics Department and sponsored by Do it Best Corporation.
  6. MAST“er” Builder, created by the Design Collaborative, Engineering Resources and C. Miller and Sons and sponsored by Design Collaborative and Engineering Resources.
  7. Slinky Don, created by Larry Davis and Robert Glick, sponsored by Georgetown Square Shopping Center.
  8. Paths-odon: Crossroads of America, created by Vicki Junk-Wright, Bryce Roebel, and Diane McIntosh and sponsored by Brooks Construction Company, Inc.
  9. Trojan Don, created by the Associates of ICON and sponsored by ICON Exhibits.
  10. Mastodonny Appleseed, created by Matt and Sharon Kubik and sponsored by the City of Fort Wayne.

Irene Walters, executive director of University Relations and Communications and the Mastodons on Parade coordinator, says the next challenge is determining the logistics of putting the top ten in the Three Rivers Festival Parade on Saturday, July 9.
