Workshop on Emotions, Stress, and Health Slated at IPFW

(Fort Wayne, March 29, 2005) -- IPFW’s Department of Psychology, in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Studies, is offering “Emotions, Stress, and Health: New Practical Paths to Resilience for Those in Need,” a seminar and workshop for psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and mental health counselors, on Friday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Walb Union Ballroom. The featured speaker for the conference is Alex Zatura, an Arizona State University Foundation professor of clinical psychology.

The objectives of the day-long seminar are to introduce two-dimensional models of emotion dynamics and their value in fostering resilient solutions in clinical practice, and to discuss practical applications of a dynamic approach to understanding emotion regulation in specific areas.

Zatura will take a hands-on approach in this workshop, drawing from examples of everyday life to show a wide applicability of this new perspective across domains of love and marriage, work, aging, and community. He will offer new insights into clinical problems of chronic pain, depression, abuse, and addiction and encourage sharing and critical analysis of real-life cases among participants.

The cost of the event is $125 per person which includes materials and lunch. Continuing education credit is also available to qualified attendees.

For more information on the event, contact the Department of Psychology at 260-481-6394; for registration information, contact the Division of Continuing Studies at 260-481-6619.
