IPFW Hosts 21st Century Scholars Parent Conference March 12 - CORRECTION

(Fort Wayne, March 3, 2005) -- Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will host a 21st Century Scholars Regional Parent Conference March 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Walb Student Union. The program is free and open to the parents of currently enrolled 21st Century Scholars (not the general public).

The Twenty-first Century Scholars Program began in 1990 as Indiana's way of raising the educational aspirations of low- and moderate-income families. The program aims to ensure that all Indiana families can afford a college education for their children.

Income-eligible 7th- and 8th-graders who enroll in the program and fulfill a pledge of good citizenship to the state are guaranteed the cost of four years of college tuition at any participating public college or university in Indiana.

The conference will assist parents and their students as he or she moves from middle school, to high school, to college. Through interactive workshops, parents will learn about scholarships, how to apply for financial aid, and more.

The conference is designed for parents whose children are in grades 7 through 10.

The conference includes workshops, speakers, information booths, free continental breakfast, and free lunch. Please register by March 8 by calling Martin Murphy at 260-481-4173 or Raquel Ramos McCoy at 260-481-4175.
