Official Mastodons on Parade Commemorative Book to be Published

(Fort Wayne, July 18, 2005) -- Irene Walters, executive director of IPFW’s office of university relations and communications, announced today that an official commemorative book highlighting the Mastodons on Parade project will be published. “We began thinking about doing a book right after the Community Party held on May first because people seemed to be so interested. Since that time, I’ve received many calls asking if we were going to do a book and urging us to do so.” Walters says the book is being edited by Dana Wichern, who also put together the special mastodon curriculum for the schools in Allen County.

The book will contain photographs of each of the 102 mastodons, many of which were taken by local photographer Randy Jackson. The hardback coffee table-style book will be filled with fun facts about the mastodons and their artist/creators.

The book will be available for sale in October. For more information on the project, contact Walters at 260-481-6104
