
Sociology Department Holds Brown Bag Luncheon Seminars
(Fort Wayne, Sept. 21, 2004) -- IPFW's Department of Sociology will begin a series of Brown Bag Luncheon Seminars on Monday, Sept. 27, when Diane Taub, professor and new chair of the department, will present "Eating Disorders among Female Athletes: Influences of Socialization and Sport Team Memberships." Taub joins IPFW's faculty from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she twice received the College of Liberal Arts Outstanding Teacher Award, and was the recipient of the University Outstanding Teacher Award and the SIUC Faculty Woman of Distinction Award. Her research focuses on eating disorders and physical disabilities. She is currently studying interpersonal relationships of women with physical disabilities.
The series continues on Monday, Oct. 25, when Professor Wen-Hui Tsai presents his final lecture to the student body. He will present "From Tradition to Modernity: An Assessment of the Quality of Life in Taiwan under the Shadow of Globalization and China's Threat." Professor Tsai will retire from IPFW in December and assume emeritus status.
On Monday, Nov. 22, Professor Anson Shupe will present "Researching Clergy Misconduct."
The seminars will be held in Walb Student Union, in Room G-08, the newly remodeled cafeteria area. The seminars begin at noon and will conclude by 1:15 p.m. For more information, call the Department of Sociology at 260-481-6842.
