Office of Academic Affairs Announces Appointments
(Fort Wayne, May 11, 2004) -- Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VCAA) Susan B. Hannah recently announced the appointment of Professor Carl N. Drummond as associate vice chancellor for research and external support, effective July 1, 2004.
Drummond was selected in spring 2002 to serve as assistant VCAA in a two year trial program during which he was charged with expanding IPFW's Office of Research and External Support. Hannah says a strategic plan developed by Drummond led to a 30 percent increase in awards at IPFW. The plan has also been published in a national research administration journal and has become the basis for regional and national workshops on research planning. Drummond joined IPFW as a member of the geosciences faculty in 1994.
Hannah also announced that Elliott J. Blumenthal, associate professor of biology, and Steven A. Carr, associate professor of communication, have been appointed Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) Associates for 2004-05. The purpose of the program is to provide an internship experience for faculty interested in higher education administration and leadership and to assist in the work of the OAA. Among other assignments, Blumenthal will work with the service learning initiative and Carr will assist with several projects related to technology in higher education and with ways to publicize faculty work.
