Deadline for Summer Study Trips Closes In

(Fort Wayne, March 10, 2004) -- How would you like to wander winding medieval streets, explore ancient sanctuaries, discover the mysteries and treasures of great cathedrals and museums, and earn college credit while you're at it? You can, if you act quickly and get your deposit in by March 31 for the two summer study tours offered through the Division of Continuing Studies.

From May 31 to June 13, you can study the art of England and France, spending seven days each in and around London and Paris. Students will enjoy a walking tour of London, a guided tour of Windsor Castle, optional side trips to Oxford, Stratford, Stonehenge, and Bath. Highlights in Paris include a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral, a guided tour of Versailles and the Louvre, as well as optional side trips to the Loire Valley and Giverny. Students under the age of 25 will pay $2,181, while those over 25 will pay $2,586. The tour instructor is Dana Goodman, associate professor of visual arts.

The trip to Italy begins July 8 and continues through either July 15 or 22, depending on if you take the credit or noncredit tour. Highlights include a luxury-coach guided tour of Rome; a personal walking tour of the Campo Marzio to visit hidden places regular tourists never see; and tours which include the Forum, the Coloseum, and St Peter's Basilica, and Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. Matthew Kubik, associate professor of interior design, is leading his 14th travel-Italy course, assisted by Samantha Birk, art historian and IPFW instructional designer. The eight day trip, designed for working professionals, is $2,000 per person, while the 14-day excursion costs $2,655 per person.
