Professor Churchill came to the Purdue center in 1961 where he taught history and philosophy. He taught until 1975 when he accepted disability leave as a result of MS. In 1986 he was awarded professor emeritus status. He was born on September 6, 1920 and died October 11, 1989. He received degrees from Bowdoin College (B.S., 1946), Harvard University (M.A., 1947) and Indiana University (Ph.D., 1960). He also studied philosophy with Martin Heidegger in Germany and did additional graduate work in physics and mathematics at M.I.T.
