Harper, Andrew Henry, Jr.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina Dr. Harper received degrees from Furman University (A.B., 1957), Florida State University (M.Mus., 1962) and Indiana University (Ph.D., 1967). He was the first chair of the Division of Music from 1967 until 1977? And during that time he formed the University Singers, a group he took on a USO tour to Greenland and Iceland in Spring 1970. In 1969 he received the Distinguished Teaching Award. He is best known for his creation of a long-standing university and community event, the Dickens Dinner.
