Ms. Ayers was born in 1921 and upon her death in 1986 she made a generous bequest for campus beautification efforts even though she had no ties to IPFW. She said she enjoyed visiting the IPFW campus to walk and exercise in the beautiful, serene environment. Funds from her estate have been and continue to be used for campus beautification. One of the projects was "Quiet Spot." A marble bench in her memory was placed outside Neff Hall facing the Engineering and Technology building in late spring of 2003. The bench was dedicated on July 11.
