Dr. Onwood came to IPFW in 1966 and was a professor of chemistry when he died on December 16, 1989. Dr. Onwood was born in London, England in 1936. He received his B.A. in 1960 and the M.A. and D.Phil. in 1966 from Oxford University, England. His areas of research were theoretical chemistry and molecular dynamics. Dr. Onwood received in 1989 the American Chemical Society Chemist of the Year Award and was the first Master of the House for the Dickens Dinner. He was a recipient of the Amoco Foundation Outstanding Teaching Award in 1969. The Onwood Memorial Garden was established in his memory.
