Republican representative from Indiana, Congressman Adair was awarded the honorary degree of doctor of laws at IPFW on May 12, 1982. Congressman Adair was born in 1907 in Albion Indiana. He received earned degrees from Hillsdale College (A.B., 1928) and George Washington University (LL.B., 1933).  In 1964 Congressman Adair received an honorary doctor of law degree from Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was first elected to Congress in 1950 where he served continuously until 1971. He was ambassador to Ethiopia from 1971-74. He was associated with the Fort Wayne law firm of Adair, Perry, Beers, Mallers & Larmore.
