We have all seen how the technological advances, economic shifts, and cultural changes associated with globalization have reshaped the United States in recent decades. But what does it mean to talk about “the global”? How is the world seen differently from a globalized United States? How has the world been changed by the rise of third world countries such as China, Russia, Brazil, India and others? Join an interdisciplinary group of scholars to discuss these and other related issues as  UC² kicks off its 2014 exploration of “the World.”

Moderator:
Stephen Buttes, Department of International Language and Cultural Studies

Panelists:
Rick Weiner, Department of History

Ann Livschiz, Department of History

Jim Lutz, Department of Political Science
