Student
of the Month

Name: Angela M. Staker
Hometown: Fort Wayne, IN
Option: Mathematics Education
Career
Aspirations: I desire to secure a position as a middle school or high
school mathematics teacher. In the future I plan to pursue a master’s degree in
education.
Why Chose
Math: I
chose mathematics education as my major because I have always enjoyed math from
the time I was in elementary school. Also, the idea of having summers off to
spend with my daughters was ideal.
Why Chose
IPFW: I chose IPFW because it was located in my hometown.
I began college at Purdue in West LaFayette
but transferred back to Fort Wayne to be closer to home.
Interests/Hobbies:
My interests include gymnastics. I am currently
coaching girl’s gymnastics
at FWCS high school for the second year. Another major interest is spending as
much time as possible with my two young daughters.
Best
Experience at IPFW: My best experience at IPFW was
meeting my friend Jessica. During student teaching she is a great friend to
have because we can talk about our experiences with each other.
Proudest
Accomplishment: My proudest accomplishment was getting my students to
participate in cooperative groups during student teaching. This concept was
presented in many education classes and it was rewarding to
see it actually
works.
Favorite
Movie: Stick It
Favorite
Book: The Twilight
series.
