INMAA Spring Meeting: April 9-10 at Franklin College

I hope everyone's new year is off to a good and productive start. Believe it or not, the Spring Meeting of our Indiana section of the MAA is about two months away! This year's meeting will be at Franklin College, on April 9-10, 2010. Two guest speakers will be Rick Cleary (Bentley College), on "Some Non-standard Applications of Mathematics to Sports", and Eric Rowland (Tulane University), on "Wolfram|Alpha: Inside and Out".

Here are some things you can do to prepare for the meeting:

1) Please consider giving a talk. The deadline for abstracts will be Friday March 26.
2) Encourage your students to attend the meeting and participate in the Friendly Competition

(There is a slight chance that due to room constraints, we may have to restrict the overall number of teams. In the event such a restriction needs to be made, there will probably be a limit on the number of teams any one school can have - but this maximum number of teams is yet to be determined.)

In addition to our usual sessions of contributed talks, we will also have a panel session on the use of technology in the mathematics classroom. As mentioned above, one of our guests is Eric Rowland, who was on the programming teams during the development of Wolfram Alpha, and he has agreed to participate in this panel. If you have experience (either good or bad!) using any of the "new of the new" technology such as Sage or Wolfram Alpha, or the "usual suspects" of Maple or Mathematica, or the growing number of on-line options such as WebWork or MapleTA, and would like to share that experience, please let me know so that I can try to include you on the panel.

Contributed Talks: A web form was available here until April 2 .
Rooms for talks all have computer, projector, laptop connections, and overhead.
There will be time slots for contributed talks on both Friday and Saturday.

Using the EventBrite web form for registration and paying by credit card is preferred;
however if you want to pay by check and register by mail, print and send this form: $PDF$ to the Indiana Section Secretary, to arrive by April 2, 2010.
