FRANKLIN COLLEGE - Franklin, Indiana
Franklin College's mathematicians are playing prominent campus roles this year. John Boardman and Robert Talbert are serving on the two top elected faculty committees, with John one of three members of the Steering Committee and Robert one of three on the campus-wide Promotion and Tenure Committee. Kerry Smith is in his second year as chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computing, while Dan Callon completed a six-year stint as Head of the Division of Business, Computing, and Mathematics and now is coordinator of the newly implemented Liberal Arts curriculum.
Students Jennifer Redicker and Matt Poisel completed independent study projects and presented them at student conferences, while students Craig Roth, president of the Math-Computing Club, and Jamie Mathews are part of a team conducting a semester-long statistical consulting project for Big Brothers - Big Sisters of Central Indiana. INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY - Marion, Indiana
The Indiana Wesleyan Mathematics Department is pleased to welcome Daniel Kiteck, who will join us in August 2008. Mr. Kiteck will finish his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky in May, doing a thesis in algebra and logic. Since 2000, the department has grown from two faculty and 27 undergraduate majors to five faculty and 53 majors. TOP

In other department news, Prof. Will Turner was awarded tenure at Wabash College in December. Prof. Turner received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Physics from Iowa State University, his masters in Applied Mathematics from Iowa State University, and his Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics from North Carolina State University. Prof. Turner joined the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Wabash in 2002 and has taught numerous math and CS courses since then. TOP
