Digitizing and Duplication

Digitizing

Media Production Services can convert pictures, drawings, 35mm slides, video, and audio into a digital format for use in teaching IPFW courses. Please call to schedule an appointment with a Media Production Services specialist who can provide you with service to your specifications.

In accordance with copyright rules, written permission from the creators is required before copyrighted materials can be duplicated or converted into another format. However, portions of works may be duplicated, converted to another format, or digitized if “Fair Use” or TEACH act guidelines are followed. Please complete, then print out the fair use checklist for works you will use in the classroom before scheduling any duplication or digitizing work. If the copyrighted work will be used in a distance education setting or on the web (for example, in WebCT Vista) please complete, then print out a copy of the TEACH Act checklist and bring it with you when you drop off your job. We must have a copy of this checklist on file.

Tape Duplication

Media Production Services can duplicate audiotapes and videotapes within copyright restrictions. Video tape formats include: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, mini-DV. Audio formats include: standard audio cassette, CD

Users are expected to provide blank tape stock for bulk duplications, or arrange for departmental transfer of funds to Media Production Services to cover the cost of materials.

Media Production Services will no longer transfer 16mm film and slide/tape programs to videotape. The Helmke Library Document Delivery Service (DDS) can help you find VHS or DVD versions of 16 mm films. The library can also purchase a DVD or VHS version of a 16 mm film through its subject librarian.
