History of Accomplishments
Colbert, who has been the IPFW Journalism Program Coordinator since 1986, has previously worked at the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis News, Bedford Daily Times-Mail, and in public relations for Indiana University - Bloomington and IPFW. She has won both national and state writing awards and has contributed freelance writing to many publications.
Since entering academe, she has been working on aspects of journalism history, including the uncovering of previously forgotten women's editions of newspapers. This work has led to several presentations and articles for national publications. The work has also been supported with grants from the Indiana Historical Society, Indiana University - Bloomington, the Freedom Forum, and IPFW.
Colbert also teaches courses which are cross-listed with Women's Studies and Communications.
