Welcome to the
Indiana Philosophical Association, whose goals have basically remained the same since its formation in 1931, i.e.:
- to promote philosophy in the state of Indiana,
- to bring together those "Hoosiers," who have an active interest in philosophy, and
- to provide professional opportunities and support for those working in the profession.
The IPA is the only professional organization for philosophers in the state of Indiana and as such officially recognized as an "affiliated organization" by the Central Division of the
American Philosohical Association. The IPA meets twice a year at institutions across Indiana (see the
Calendar for dates) and maintains a philosophy list-serv, the
IPA Newsletter. It is entirely self-governed and elects its
three officers every spring. Membership is open to everyone interested; institutions are encouraged to maintain an institutional membership; see
contacts for details).
