Bermes received a bachelor's degree in interpersonal and organizational communication and a master's degree in business and professional communication from Purdue University. She is the basic course director in the Department of Communication at IPFW and is a member of the honors faculty.
She teaches a wide range of courses including interviewing, business and professional communication, interpersonal communication, and small group communication. Bermes also works one-on-one as a professional coach with a select group of leaders and entrepreneurs, helping them achieve higher and more meaningful levels of success in work and life.
