Pregnancy Policy

Because of the paramount need to minimize exposure of the embryo and fetus, it is the recommendation of the Radiography Faculty that any student, suspicious of pregnancy, inform the Program Director as soon as possible although disclosure is voluntary.

A student who has elected to confirm her pregnancy must provide a written statement indicating that she is aware of the risks of radiation to her embryo/fetus.  Statement of Pregnancy for Student Radiographers Form

 

1.  The student may elect to complete the program without any modifications of her clinical and didactic requirements.

2.  The student may take a leave of absence (LOA) of one year duration.  Such a student will be granted a LOA with a place reserved in the following class. Any college work previously completed at that time will b granted for credit.  The student must complete requirements of didactic courses before proceeding to the next course level.

3.  The student may elect a LOA for more than one year duration.  The student must submit another application to the program and go through the admission process again. In such a case, no place will be reserved in the following class.

4.  The student may elect to request from the Faculty Committee an individual program for completing her remaining clinical and didactic requirements.

5.  All students shall be required to comply with the Departmental Radiation Safety Policies.
