Biology Scholarships

Biology Department Scholarship

Criteria

Student must be enrolled full time and be a Purdue University at Fort Wayne biology major. The student must have completed a minimum of 24 hours at IPFW, including a minimum of 8 credit hours in biology before receiving the scholarship. The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and a biology GPA of 3.25 or higher. The applicant should possess high standards of integrity, professionalism, and high potential for future success. Apply by Mar. 1, 2008.

Dr. Beaumont S. Cornell Scholarship

Criteria

Student must be a graduate of an Adams, Allen or Huntington County, IN high school. The student must enroll in a major preparing to become a medical doctor. First-time students (coming directly to IPFW from high school), must either:

  1. Rank in the top 25 percent of their high school class and have SAT scores of 1870 or greater, or ACT composite of 28 or greater; or
  2. Rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class and have SAT scores of 1650 or greater, or ACT composite of 24 or greater.

First-time students must be admitted to IPFW by Mar. 31, 2008 for priority consideration and also have a Cornell Scholarship application on file by Mar. 31. 2008. All students must be enrolled full-time. This scholarship is renewable, but a student must submit an application to be considered each year. The following minimum cumulative GPAs are required for consideration for renewal.

  • 24 - 59 credit hours - 3.2 GPA
  • 60 - 89 credit hours - 3.3 GPA
  • 90+ credit hours - 3.4 GPA

To be considered for the Cornell Scholarship you must file a 2008-09 Cornell Scholarship application and file the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Application deadline is March 31, 2008 for students who are coming to IPFW directly from high school. File both forms no later than March 31, 2008.

If you are a continuing IPFW student, or a transfer student coming in from another college, you should file the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid so that it is received at the federal processor's by May 1, 2008 and file the appropriate 2008-09 Cornell Scholarship application by May 1, 2008.

Bryson and Ernest Henebry Scholarship

Criteria

Students must be Allen County, IN residents who are majoring in agriculture or the humanities with at least a 2.5 GPA and a minimum of 20 credits earned at IPFW. Apply by Mar. 1, 2008.

Leo and Jack Jehl Memorial Scholarship

Criteria

Student must be a biology major and be classified as a junior or senior. The student may enroll as either a full or part time student. Preference will be given to a returning adult student. Apply by Mar. 1, 2008.

Marquardt Farm Scholarship

Criteria

Student must be currently enrolled in a Fort Wayne campus program of study that leads to an agricultural degree or be a high school senior intending to enroll in August. The student must be a resident of one of the following Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells, and Whitley. Apply by Mar. 1, 2008.

Emil Richard Seidel Scholarship

Criteria

Student must have completed the equivalent of the freshman year and be enrolled full time at IPFW. Preference will be given to agriculture student or students majoring in an area that is agriculture-related. Student must also exhibit potential to emulate Emil Richard Seidel's commitment to the well-being of others and the betterment of society. Apply by Mar. 1, 2008.
