Awarding
Accepting Your Financial Aid Online
The awarding process begins when all missing information is returned to the IPFW Financial Aid office and is fully processed. Awarding is generally done twice a week. This process will make any grants, scholarships, and/or loans you are eligible to receive available online. State awards and certain scholarships are posted manually and may not show up right away.
You can check your financial aid application status at myIPFW. Follow these steps to accept your awards:
- Log into myIPFW
- Click on the "Enrollment" tab
- Look in the "Financial Aid" box in the middle of the page
- Click on "Accept Award Offer by Aid Year"
- Choose the aid year you wish to view from the drop down menu and click submit
What you will see:
- About halfway down the page, you will see your expected enrollment and if you wanted the bookstore credit. Below this is a box called “Update enrollment/bookstore credit.”
- Near the bottom of the page you will see what aid you are eligible to receive.
- Loans will have a drop down box to the right of the award.
- There will also be an empty box to the right of the drop down so you may indicate a lower amount of loan money to borrow for the year.
What you need to do from here:
- You need to indicate if you want a bookstore credit—this is not automatically set up for students and may only be used during specific times in the academic year.
- You need to indicate if you want to accept the loan you are offered.
- If you want a lower amount than what you are eligible for, you must indicate the amount you want for the year in the empty box.
- You need to click “Submit Decision” for our office to receive the information.
If you take out a loan:
- You will need to choose a lender for your loan to be processed—Please note: the lender cannot change anything on a Stafford Loan since this is a government funded loan—the lender will simply hold and process the loan; when you go into repayment, you will deal with this lender to pay the loan back.
- If you choose to go through a lender that is not listed, select the radial button next to “I will contact the Financial Aid office with my decision.” You must come into the Financial Aid office to let us know who you want for your lender—your loan will not be processed until this happens.
- When finished, click “Submit Decision”
What to do next:
- If you have taken out a loan, you will need to complete a Master Promissory Note online through your lender's Web site.
- If you have taken out a loan, you will also need to complete a Loan Entrance Interview which covers rights and responsibilities for having a Stafford Loan.
- If you did not take any loans, you are finished. You may close out of OASIS and myIPFW.
If your financial aid is enough to cover your tuition and fees for the semester, you simply need to wait for everything to be processed and disbursed. If your financial aid is not enough to cover your semester tuition and fees, see your payment options.
