TENL Program
Undergraduate Program Application Process
To be eligible for admission into the undergraduate TENL Program you must meet the following criteria:
- Be regularly admited into IPFW
- Completion of LING L103, with at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Successful passage of PPST (License Only)
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 (License Only)
Graduate Program Application Process
To apply for admission to the TENL program, you must submit the following materials:
- An Application for Admission to the TENL (An application is available from the main office of the Department of English and Linguistics.).
- Graduate Data Sheet
- Official transcripts from all other colleges and universities at which you have studied.
- References:
- For students who completed their undergraduate degree at IPFW: The names of three IPFW professors who would be willing to serve as a reference.
- For students who completed their undergraduate degree elsewhere: Three letters of reference from people who can comment on your strengths as a student in general and your preparation for pursuing a TENL certificate in particular.
- A one- to two-page statement of purpose in which you describe your reasons for pursuing the license.
Note: Admission to the program in English as a New Language does not guarantee admission to the master’s program in English & Linguistics. Students who wish to pursue a master’s will be asked to submit a separate application. If admitted to the master's degree program in English and Linguistics, you will be able to apply all 18 credits of this license to the degree provided that the degree is completed within 5 years of your admission to the program.
