Professional Conferences and Organizations

Writing Teacher Associations

The National Council of Teachers of English--The NCTE defines themselves as “a professional of educators in English studies, literacy, and language arts.” The site offers links to an online bookstore, a teacher’s forum, online journals, and upcoming conventions.

Indiana Council of Teachers of English--A branch of the NCTE, the ICTE offers a link to Indiana English, a journal dedicated to teaching English literature and composition.

National Writing Project--A site that offers a variety of information for K-16 educators. While some information is geared specifically toward elementary and secondary students, much of the site’s information can be applied to post-secondary students.

College Instructor Associations

CELT—The Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching, located at IPFW, offers a variety of resources for professional development, including workshops and online journals.

The Scholarship of Teaching--a CELT-sponsored site that addresses student/teacher learning as well as course design and management.

The Teaching Professor--An online journal whose membership is provided by CELT for college instructors/professors.

Conference Sites

CCCC--Conference on College Composition and Communication: A national conference presented by the NCTE.

CEE--“The Conference on English Education (CEE) serves those NCTE members who are engaged in the preparation, support, and continuing education of teachers of English language arts/literacy.”

TYCA--The Two-Year College English Association of the National Council of Teachers of English
