Professional Background
Dr. David H. Lindquist is an assistant professor in the School of Education, Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). Prior to assuming his present position, he was the social studies department chairperson at R. Nelson Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He received his Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University – Bloomington, where his dissertation was titled “Toward a Pedagogy of the Holocaust: Perspectives of Exemplary Teachers.” David is a Fellow of the Museum Teacher Fellowship Program of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) and participated in the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors study program in Poland and Israel. He is a Regional Museum Educator for the USHMM and has been named a Distinguished Teacher by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.
Dr. Lindquist teaches an undergraduate course in elementary social studies methods; undergraduate and graduate courses in secondary social studies and language arts methods; graduate courses in curriculum and research methodology; and a dual-level (undergraduate/graduate) course titled “Teaching the Holocaust.” His research interests focus on Holocaust education, social studies education, pre-service teacher education, and the socio-political aspects of schools. He presents regularly at state, regional, and national conferences, where his topics include both the Holocaust and contemporary genocide.
