Professional Background
Dr. M. Gail Hickey is Professor of Educational Studies in the School of Education at IPFW. Her primary teaching responsibilities include graduate courses dealing with social studies, curriculum and gifted education. Dr. Hickey’s research and scholarly publications focus on perceptions and experiences of contemporary immigrants to the U.S., and how these can inform teachers in U.S. schools. A secondary area of publication focus involves creative teaching of social studies in the elementary and middle grades. Dr. Hickey is very active in many national, university, campus, and school organizations.
