Overview
With the opening of the new academic year, exciting events are happening at the School of Education (SOE).
First, our new Masters degree in Special Education has been launched. A part of the SOE’s overall goal is to match community need to new programs. This particular Masters degree typifies that prior statement, as so many of our schools are in need of teachers who can be certified in more than one area, especially in Special Education. Our Masters degree does just that and additionally provides students with an advanced degree. Much work has been put into the production of this program and a special note of thanks for excellent work must be passed on to our Special Education faculty, Drs. Leatherman, Agness and Weikle for their efforts as the program grows. Please check out the structure of the degree and see if it suits your future as a teacher!
The hiring of new faculty is always a critical and exciting step in the growth of an organization. We have been extremely fortunate to hire a few excellent new faculty. Drs. Lee, Kim, Weikle, Bangel and Parnin will instill knowledge and passion into their teaching and research. Please welcome them to our IPFW and SOE family!
Our new journal, scholarlypartnereshipsedu, is presently issuing its third addition. We invite all students to either read the journal and/or subscribe to it for up-to-date knowledge of professional development practices in the field you have chosen for our wonderful profession. Please visit our Curriculum Lab to read the latest edition.
Our Masters degree in Educational Leadership through the cohort structure continues to blossom. We are well aware of the shortage of educational leader change agents. Our faculty are both theorists and established practitioners, and are extremely suited to guide us through leadership issues of what it means to become transformative intellectual leaders.
Business continues on as usual. We are always reviewing our programs for our accreditors. We link our work to schools where possible. Many of our faculty are researching in our schools. The SOE at IPFW remains a critical link to our public, private and parochial schools. We urge you to join us in helping build our community of teacher leaders. Till next time . . .
