Chair’s Welcome
As our mission statement in the School of Education suggests, we are focused on preparing our students at both the undergraduate and graduate level for effective careers in teaching and school leadership. To this end, we emphasize; the development of caring, humane, and functional citizens in a global, multicultural, democratic society, improving the human condition by creating positive learning environments, becoming change agents by demonstrating reflective professional practice, assisting students to become critical, analytical thinkers and problem solvers, and utilizing a variety of methodologies that reflect current research and practice.
To accomplish this mission, the faculty in the Department of Educational Studies are engaged in best practices of teaching methodology and continue to explore research that examines a variety of school-related topics. Our faculty comes from diverse backgrounds academically and professionally, and from a variety of locations throughout the United States and the world and have a wealth of experience in Pre-K to 12 schools and higher education.
If you want a program that can provide cutting-edge instruction and research, along with service and a vast array of internship opportunities while preparing you to become the most effective educator that you can be, then come join us in our mission to prepare the next generation of young learners.
