Fed Challenge 2008

Seven students from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) are going to Chicago on Monday, November 10, to take part in the annual Fed Challenge at the Seventh District Federal Reserve offices.

The College Fed Challenge provides undergraduates with a chance to experience the policy-making process at the Federal Reserve. Each team will have 20 minutes to present an analysis of the current U.S. economy, a short-term forecast, and make a monetary policy recommendation. Then the team will defend its view before a panel of professional economists in a 15-minute question and answer session.

The teams are scored in five categories: knowledge of the Fed and its role in making and implementing monetary policy, responses to judges' questions, quality of the presentation, quality of the research, and teamwork. They can score up to 50 total points.

The IPFW team consists of Kyle Knerr, Elizabeth (Betsy) Krueckeberg, Kevin McKay, Brad Steenport, Alix Hughes, Nick Rolf, and Kidus Dirasse. They are coached by Nodir Adilov, assistant professor of economics.
