Education
Professor Kessler received his M.A. in Economic Education and Entrepreneurship from the University of Delaware in 2007.
Teaching Interests
Professor Kessler emphasizes active learning, technology, and relevancy in his classes. He enjoys incorporating current public policy issues into class discussions and projects. Prior teaching positions were at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona and Arizona State University West as an undergraduate teacher's assistant.
Community
Mr. Kessler has served as an economics education consultant for the Arizona Council for Economics Education and the National Academy Foundation. He was a reviewer for the National Science Foundation publication Economic Investigations and National Council for Economic Education (NCEE) publication Focus: Understanding Economics In U.S. History. Mr. Kessler is a member of the Global Association of Teachers of Economics and Foundation for Teaching Economics' Professional Teachers Association. He has presented at many meetings including the Arizona Council for the Social Studies, Arizona Society of Economics Teachers, and Jumpstart Coalition Conferences where he has spoken on integrating economics into government and history classes, active learning lessons, and personal finance. Mr. Kessler has also served as a board member for the Arizona Council for the Social Studies and Arizona Society of Economics Teachers. Mr. Kessler is active in the National Council for Economics Education. He has traveled to Romania with the NCEE's Study Tour and looks forward to serving the needs of Indiana educators and IPFW students.
Interesting Facts
Mr. Kessler's life experiences have been varied. He has been a trumpet player in the 1st Marine Division Band, a non-commissioned officer, a transportation director, a substitute teacher, a marathon runner, a writing consultant, a liaison for Senator John McCain, a track coach, a jeep tour guide, a singing bellhop, a security guard, a rock star, and a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. Mr. Kessler is a proud lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
