IPFW/Parkview Student Assistance Program

IPFW recognizes that going to college is only part of a student's life. Students also work, have famlies, social activities and many more responsibilities. These challenges are not always easy. The concerns and challenges facing young people today are well-known. These concerns include (but are not limited to): depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, anger management, stress, identity issues, abuse, pregnancy, relationship issues and suicide. The Student Assistance Program (SAP) helps students with these concerns and challenges so they can better focus on school and other activities.

The Student Assistance Program offers a veriety of brief counseling and consultation services by a professional counselor to address student needs in a welcoming, comfortable and confidential setting, regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnic background, age, sexual orientation, citizenship or presence of a disability. All currently enrolled IPFW students are eligible for our free services, including up to six full counseling session per year. Family members and significant others are eligible, when seen with the student.

Services include individual counseling, group counseling, couples counseling, consultation, workshops and referrals to outside agencies. These services are provided on the IPFW campus for student convenience. There is no cost to students or their families and insurance is not required for SAP services.

Student Assistance Program Services are confidential!

The Student Assistance Program has a strong commitment to keeping the information you share confidential, including your attendance and participation in counseling. They do not, and are not legally able to, discuss your information with anyone, including university officials, faculty/staff members, family members or outside agencies, without written authorization from you.

Exceptions to this are instances in which you or someone else is in imminent danger of serious harm, there is a child or other dependent being abused, or there is a court order requiring release of records.
