Grants for Diversity Initiatives on Campus
Call for Proposals, 2005-06
The Diversity Council, the Office of Multicultural Services, and the Women’s Studies Program are partnering to offer grants for diversity initiatives on campus. We invite proposals for collaborative projects and initiatives that will enhance the climate for diversity at IPFW. In general, the maximum that will be awarded for a single initiative is $3,000, but requests for larger amounts will be considered on their merits. Matching funds of at least 1/3 of the amount requested are normally required.
Criteria
- Proposals may be submitted by students, faculty, or staff, in collaboration with one or more partner groups or units.
- Proposals should involve collaboration across groups (students, faculty, staff) and across the traditional areas of responsibility, for example:
- an initiative to improve recruitment or retention must involve collaboration between at least one academic unit and at least one student affairs unit
- a campus climate initiative should involve collaboration among students, faculty, and staff
- a curriculum initiative should be done collaboratively by faculty and students, and may involve staff when appropriate
- an outreach initiative must involve collaboration with at least one community partner
- The proposal must explain how the project or initiative will help achieve the diversity goals of the campus strategic plan.
- There must be a plan for assessing the project: how will you know whether the goals were achieved.
To request a proposal form, contact Jeanette Clausen (1-6637). If you have an idea for a proposal but are not sure how to find collaborative partners or matching funds, contact one of the individuals named below. We can also help you develop your proposal.
Ken Christmon (1-6605, christmk@ipfw.edu), Jeanette Clausen (1-6637, clausen@ipfw.edu), Linda Fox (fox@ipfw.edu –spring semester only), or Leslie Raymer (1-6016, or raymerl@ipfw.edu).
Proposals will be reviewed as they are received, until funds are exhausted. In general, a department or program will receive funding for only one project per academic year.
