To qualify for both the BSEE and BSCmpE degrees from IPFW, the following minimum requirements must be met.

Freshman Year Requirements (31 credit hours)

  • CHM 115, MA 165, MA 166, PHYS 152, ENGR 127, ENGR 128, COM 114, ENG W131

ECE Requirements (81 credit hours)

Core Courses for Both EE and CmpE Curriculum (30 credit hours)
  • ECE 201, ECE 202, ECE 208, ECE 255, ECE 270, ECE 293, ECE 301, ECE 302, ECE 362, CS 229
Core Courses for EE Curriculum (16 credit hours)
  • ECE 311, ECE 324, ECE 3XX (lab), ECE 333, ECE 428, ECE 436
Core Courses for CmpE Curriculum (17 credit hours)
  • ECE 358, ECE 368, ECE 437, ECE 465, ECE 485
Senior Design (6 credit hours)
  • ECE 405 and ECE 406, or ENGR 410 and ENGR 411
ECE Electives (12 credit hours)
  • Minimum of 3 credit hours must come from ECE 460, ECE 474, ECE 483. Minimum of 3 credit hours must come from ECE 547, CS 360, CS 321, and CS 364, and CS 384. The rest of the credits must come from the list of approved technical electives for the electrical engineering and computer engineering programs

Meet the General Education Program requirements of both programs:

  • 3 credit hours from area B5
  • 3credit hours from area B6, and
  • 3 credit hours from area B7

Total credits: 141 credit hours

GPA Requirements

A graduation index of 2.0 or better is required to fulfill the BSEE and BSCmpE degree requirements. In addition, a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required for all ENGR and ECE courses.
