Your contribution to the Department of Music General Scholarship Fund provides much needed financial assistance to deserving students who are beginning their careers in music. Contributions to this fund are available immediately for disbursement to students who are recommended by the faculty for such assistance, based upon their academic and musical potential as evaluated by auditions, placement tests and other criteria.
You may choose to name a scholarship in your name, or in the name of someone you wish to honor. Named scholarships are those which are funded by a gift of less than $25,000.00. Once all funds are expended the named scholarship ceases to exist unless supplemented by subsequent contributions. Funds from a named scholarship are available immediately and are awarded upon faculty recommendation and other departmental criteria. Donors may specify additional criteria.
Endowed Scholarship Funds are the result of a contribution of $25,000.00 or more. Funds contributed to an endowed scholarship are never spent and remain in the account permanently. Only the interest generated by the account is used. Endowed scholarships are named at the discretion of the donor. Awards from Endowed Scholarships are made as a result of faculty recommendation in accordance with departmental criteria and other criteria specified by the donor.

Are there criteria which I may not specify?
Indiana taxpayers may take a tax credit of half their gift to IPFW. This credit is available even if the taxpayer does not itemize deductions on the federal return. The tax credit directly reduces the “bottom line” of the state income tax return, either decreasing the amount owed or increasing the refund.
For a joint return, the maximum credit is $200 (based on a gift of $400 or more); for a single return, the maximum credit is $100 (for a gift of $200 or more). Other rules apply, so read the CC-40 instructions carefully or consult your tax advisor.
The CC-40 tax form is available at locations that stock other Indiana tax forms. Also, you may download the form from the Indiana Department of Revenue or call IPFW at 260-481-6962 to request that a CC-40 form be mailed to you.
