Jodi Thomas is a creative, highly self-motivated teacher with excellent musical technique and performance skills. She has performed roles such as Madame Silverklang (The Impressario, Houston) and Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus, Beaumont Opera, Texas). She was a soloist with Whitewater Opera Company in their Young Audiences programs, with Muncie Symphony, Southwest Chamber Orchestra (Houston), Symphony North of Houston, as well as chorus with Houston Grand Opera. Her musical theatre song performances were well received at Risky Business and Ovation clubs (Houston).
She enjoys performing now as a professional piano accompanist, having played many musicals at Canterbury School and several years of ISSMA (solo and ensemble festivals, Indiana), as well as for IPFW voice students.
She currently teaches private voice and piano lessons at AirSong Studio and is adjunct voice faculty at IPFW. She was adjunct voice faculty at Ball State University and San Jacinto College (Houston). She has taught private voice lessons in-house at several high schools in Indiana and Texas and conducted her own program at several preschools in Indiana. She is currently a member of Music Teachers National Association and National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Jodi particularly appreciates the training she received at Rice University (Houston) gaining her Master of Music in Voice Performance. Her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy is from Baylor University (Texas). She attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and participated in master classes with Gerard Souzay and Phyllis Curtin among others.
